Welcome To My Corner

Hello!!! Welcome to my little corner of this world! I am the eldest in a family of 10 children which definitely makes life interesting. :) Sometimes I think that it makes it much TOO interesting. But we have all survived our disputings so far. Sometimes I am about ready to SCREAM or something because I get so frustrated with all the picking that goes on some days. Thankfully not every day goes like that though :)

The house in the background of the above picture we moved in from about 8 mi. away in Dec. of 2010. We worked on it little by little from then (we did the basement before the house got moved in) until... well, it still isn't all the way completed. We got the upper level finished far enough to be livable and moved into it on Feb. 22 of this year. All of the bedrooms are in the basement and they still had a little ways to go to be done so we were doing our cooking etc. in the house and sleeping in the trailer for several days. We moved all of the bedroom things over on Feb. 28 due to a snowstorm that was supposed to snow us in good and proper. And, true to the forecast, it came. We got to enjoy Feb. 29 watching the beautiful WI snow bathing the world in white. Actually, the snow was very wet whereas WI snow is normally dry and fluffy. After several weeks of having bedding (blankets, NOT sawdust) all over the place we got the girl's bedroom finished and moved into. What a relief not to always be tripping over blankets and pillows! So there you have a nut-shell version of the long 2 year plus story about our house.

We live in northern Wisconsin where there are more tourist traps than trees. OK, so I admit that that was an exaggeration by a little bit. But it sure doesn't seem like it sometimes. Especially when your little town of approx.  300 or so people turns into a noisy city of over 30,000 people once a year. I know, it's completely ridicules. But that's what happens every fall over the time of the Cranberry Fest. And the American Birkebeiner which tales place in Hayward and Cable is just as bad if not worse. We say that those are good times to be FROM whichever town the fest is taking place in.

We spent yesterday at our Grandparent's place in Conrath along with as many of the rest of the family as could make it. The men and boys put up sheet rock in their basement while the ladies and girls sat around and talked and got lunch on. After lunch most of us went outside and took turns riding on a tube behind the 4-wheeler.

Right now we are enjoying the beauty of a snowy evening. We have had less snow than normal this winter. It's enough to go sledding on though :) We had a sledding party on Sun. with some of our cousins. We had a lot of fun :) The last couple of nights have been down to below 0 and the days in the lower to mid teens. I really enjoy that kind of weather!

Anyway, I must go now. Have a good day!
