Our Trip, Part One

We left on Tues. afternoon for the Maranatha Bible School in Lansing, MN to see Kenton Weaver (Dad's brother Mark's oldest son) and Constance Martin (Mom's brother Art's daughter). We had wanted to take them out to eat somewhere but we didn't get left till 2:00pm (it might have been three, I don't remember) or so and got there around quarter to 6. They have to be back at the Bible school by 7:00pm so we didn't have enough time to go anywhere. So we wandered around there for an hour and a half. We got to play some volley-ball. :) From the Bible school we went to find a place to eat. We ended up at the Pizza Ranch. They had really good food. We went to Dad's Uncle and Aunt's (Arnie and Leona Skrivseth) place for the night. On Wed we headed for Molline, IL to go through the John Deere Pavilion. On of the two Timberjack Walking Harvesters are there and Dad wanted to see it (John Deere bought out Timberjack several years ago.). That thing seriously looks like  a giant grasshopper. From there we went to Nate Byers' in Kurksville, MO for the night. On Thursday we headed for Wolf Lake, IL to get a transfer case at Schaefer Enterprises. From there we headed on towards Barnwell, South Carolina to visit Dad's cousin, Ivan Skrivseth, and his family over the weekend. The distance between Wolf Lake and Barnwell is to far to do in 3/4 of a day and we needed to find a library to fax some paper work. So we stopped in Pedukah, Kentucky and found a library. Their fax was rather unco-operative so we ended up using the fax machine at a hotel. Till then it was getting to be time to find beds anyway so we got rooms at Drury Suites. We used the fax at Drury Inn and they sent us to the suites because they had two adjoining rooms available. By the way there is a third branch of Drury right there also called "Pear Tree Inn by Drury". That one is your low end type that you go outside to get to your rooms. They had a beautiful chandelier in the two upper end hotels. In the one we had rooms in the chandelier hung from the fourth floor down. They put a glass window in the elevator that was close to it so that you could see it as you went down. I wish I would have remembered to take pictures of it. Oh well. There was also what I think was a magnolia bush/small tree that was blooming that I wanted to take pictures of but when we got there it was dark and the next morning it was raining. So I didn't get any. I should have tried to take some pics in the dark but I think that the flash would have made the flowers glare. On to Friday. We had approx. 10 hours to Ivan's according to the GPS that we have. However we can easily beat it by a long ways (it's not a Garmin). We found a car wash somewhere between the hotel and Ivan's and washed the van and trailer. While Dad washed them the rest of us enjoyed the warm weather and drank coffee and picked flowers on the trashed up bank that lead down to the swamp. Then we headed for Ivan's. We got there at the same time that they got home from church. (They had communion. By the way this was Good Fri.) We stayed at Ivan's over Saturday and left for North Carolina Sunday after lunch. And that is going in another post 'cause this one is long enough already. :)

Being silly.

She fell asleep and the sunglasses were falling off. :)

We stopped to wash the van somewhere in Georgia. There was a swamp right there but we didn't see any alligators. Not that we went tromping around looking for any. That poor bank was COVERED in trash. So much for the NO LITTERING signs (I didn't see any right there) and fines that they give people.

Picking flowers.

At Ivan Skrivseth's in South Carolina over Easter weekend.
We were there Fri. night, Sat., and Sun. till after lunch.
Pushing little boys in wagons or something like that.

Thorton was trying to mess up my picture. What he didn't know was that he was co-operating perfectly with what I wanted him to do. LOL.

We had a picnic supper on Sat. evening. Earlier that day Rupert Mullet (Dad's trucker) text Dad and told him that it was 75* where they were in OR. Dad was riding around with Ivan and he glanced at the thermometer in his truck and it said 76*. So Dad text right back "76* at Ivan's"

Kyle got his cupcake I think it was shoved into his mouth.
